College Credit Plus

What is College Credit Plus?

College Credit Plus (CCP) is a program offered by the state of Ohio that allows eligible students in grades 7–12 to earn both high school and college credit at the same time by taking courses through participating colleges and universities.

CCP provides students with the opportunity to experience college-level coursework while still in high school, potentially saving time and money on future college education. Courses may be taken online, on a college campus, or occasionally at the high school, depending on the partnering institution.

Because GCCS is a non-public school, families must apply for CCP funding through the state each year.

Eligibility Requirements

To participate in CCP, students must:

  • Meet college readiness standards set by the college or university (often through ACT, SAT, or placement testing).

  • Be admitted to a participating college or university.

  • Work with Mrs. Raney to ensure courses meet high school graduation requirements.

Most colleges allow students with a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA to qualify for admission without placement testing.

Steps to Apply

Students interested in participating in CCP should follow these steps. All below steps must be complete by April 1, 2026.

  1. Apply to a participating college or university.

  2. Complete placement testing or submit qualifying ACT/SAT scores, if required.

  3. Apply for CCP funding through the state of Ohio (required for non-public school students).

  4. Meet with Mrs. Raney to select courses that align with graduation requirements.

  5. Parents must complete the OH|ID Funding Application by April 1, 2026.

Benefits of CCP

Participation in CCP allows students to:

  • Earn college and high school credit simultaneously

  • Gain experience with college-level academic expectations

  • Explore potential college majors or career interests

  • Potentially reduce the overall cost and time required for a college degree

Important Considerations

CCP courses become part of a student’s permanent college transcript. Grades earned in CCP courses may affect future college admissions and financial aid eligibility.

Because of the academic rigor and responsibility involved, students should carefully consider their workload, extracurricular commitments, and readiness for college-level expectations before enrolling.

Typically, we only recommend CCP for grades 9-12.
